What is New Private Work Permit for Teachers in UAE?

With the implementation of a new permission system, private tuition has been made lawful in the United Arab Emirates, enabling people to provide instruction outside of conventional educational institutions. The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization (MoHRE) and the Ministry of Education (MoE) together introduced the two-year permit, which is now open for application by registered teachers, employed professionals, jobless people, schoolchildren between the ages of 15 and 18, and university students.

The free permit's objectives are to control private tuition fees and put an end to unethical business practices. Candidates may submit an application using the MoHRE's digital platforms, notably the 'Services' page on the ministry's website under the 'Private Teacher Work Permit' section.

According to Mohammad Al Mualla, the Ministry of Education's undersecretary for Academic Affairs, "the introduction of a permit for individuals qualified to provide private lessons will help curb illegal and unregulated practices when recruiting private teachers, which risk affecting the learning process as a whole."

Qualifications and Application: Teachers who are registered, people who work or are jobless, and students in school or university between the ages of 15 and 18 are all eligible to apply for the permit. Requests can be submitted by candidates using the MoHRE's online channels. According to the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, the new authorization enables "different groups of specialized and qualified professionals from the community to offer private lessons for students, individually or in groups."

Cost and Validity: There is no fee associated with the two-year permit. Those who meet the requirements and are given the permit can teach private classes and earn money directly as long as they follow a "code of conduct" that has been authorized by the ministry.
